Announced during an exclusive Fender Custom Shop Event held in February 2022, Fender took nearly a full year to deliver these instruments. The wait was well worth it, as this guitar proved to be an absolute masterpiece and sold almost immediately after arriving in our shop. Today, it returns as a pre-owned instrument, but in virtually the same condition as when we originally sold it, thanks to its meticulous previous owner, a true enthusiast and connoisseur who cared for it with exceptional attention.

Combining Fender’s iconic original design with modern specifications and a custom Journeyman Relic® finish, this Limited Edition ’64 Strat is a timeless instrument equally suited to discerning players, professionals, and collectors. Built by the Fender Custom Shop, this exceptional limited-edition model arrived in our shop in February 2023. It is equipped with a set of Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat ’64 Stratocaster pickups, faithfully reproducing the specifications of this pivotal year, when the Stratocaster underwent several important production changes. A unique combination of period-correct transitional features, including the still-present Mint Green pickguard, the correct pickguard screw spacing, and a Round Lam rosewood fingerboard, sets this remarkable guitar apart from other Custom Shop creations.

The lightweight two-piece alder body was carefully selected for its resonance and low weight and is finished in beautifully aged Journeyman Relic® nitrocellulose lacquer. The tinted quartersawn maple neck features a comfortable 1963 “C” profile, paired with a Round Lam rosewood fingerboard, a 9.5-inch radius, and 21 narrow-tall 6105 frets. The modified Vintage Wiring #2 with a treble-bleed circuit allows the volume to be rolled back without sacrificing the guitar’s sparkling high end. Additional features include a five-way pickup selector, a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup for hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4, a vintage synchronized tremolo, and a bone nut.

Our Limited Edition ’64 Strat Journeyman Relic is in immaculate condition. The frets are virtually as new, and the guitar comes complete with its deluxe hardshell case, strap, original documentation, and Certificate of Authenticity.
