What a beauty!!! We won’t lie to you, take a look online and you’ll find a few PRS Joe Walsh Limited guitars for sale here and there, but ours is the most stunning, the most beautifully flamed, the most… well, simply the one available in Switzerland and without a doubt the most beautiful available online. Here’s a rare opportunity to own an exceptional instrument worthy of PRS Private Stock quality.
Since late 2013, PRS has occasionally produced the Artist Relations series, virtually unknown to the general public and intended to showcase PRS quality to renowned artists. It’s easy to imagine that for such ultra high-end, near-confidential runs, destined for players like Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Brad Whitford, or others not yet officially endorsed, PRS would go all out, selecting their finest materials, their best luthiers, and their most exquisite finishes, even without the official Private Stock label. These Artist Relations instruments are extremely rare, only a few dozen per year, and are typically not offered for sale. They are pieces PRS builds specifically to present directly to artists. In early 2014, for example, the targeted artists included Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, and Brad Whitford—players well known for their Gibson leanings. Beyond the Faded McCarty Sunburst finish, another unique feature of these Artist Relations instruments is the lacquer used. This is a “true” nitrocellulose finish without added plasticizers. It may sound trivial, but most so-called nitro finishes on the market today actually contain plasticizers, making them easier to apply but preventing them from aging the same way, and often resulting in a stickier feel. Here, PRS chose a pure nitrocellulose lacquer with no plasticizers. It beautifully enhances the Faded McCarty Sunburst finish and highlights the extraordinary figuring of the maple top. The maple used here is exceptionally figured, lightweight, and on par with the quality found in Private Stock instruments.
Then in 2021, PRS released a limited run of just 200 Artist Relations Joe Walsh models, featuring spectacular specs: an outrageously figured maple top, a one-piece mahogany back with stunning grain, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, a Gibson-style 24.594″ scale length, a two-piece bridge, and PRS 58/15 LT pickups. It’s simply breathtaking and with its light weight and incredible resonance, this is undoubtedly one of the finest PRS guitars made in recent years. Oh, and it’s signed by Joe Walsh himself.
This incredibly comfortable guitar is a featherweight that vibrates with life, with an already evident acoustic voice. It’s a powerhouse of comfort and tone, with a setup that’s simply outstanding. The neck is perfect, made of extremely dense mahogany for stability and resonance with slightly rounded binding edges for added comfort. Both the intonation and action make this Artist Relations Joe Walsh Limited Edition an exceptional instrument. The resonance is astonishing: played unplugged, this Singlecut already sings, with vibrations you can clearly feel—far more than on a typical solid-body guitar.
The 58/15 LT pickups are particularly impressive, offering output levels true to vintage PAFs and a very open tonal character. The bass response is remarkably well defined, and chord articulation is superb thanks to perfect string balance. The neck pickup is phenomenal, never muddy or unclear, always precise and articulate. The bridge pickup has more bite, of course, but avoids the harshness found in many bridge pickups, and the balance between both is perfect. This guitar naturally covers Les Paul territory, but delivers a much broader tonal palette than a standard Gibson. Simply put, it does it all, from jazz to fusion, blues to rock, and truly excels for solos thanks to its incredible sustain. It vibrates, it sings, it resonates…
This is a pre-owned instrument in like-new condition, previously owned by a collector who patiently and meticulously built an impressive guitar collection. It comes with its original case, original documents, and a CITES certificate for the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. A true masterpiece.
