Yessss!!! An original MC-1 – how cool is it to see one of these Brian Moores again! From 2002 to 2012, Leadmusic was the official distributor of Brian Moore, until the high-end American brand sadly lost its way with licensing and Asian outsourcing. The MC-1 models were the crown jewel of the brand, and almost every single one is unique, being either custom-made or shaped by the creative mood of Brian Moore’s American luthiers.
The very first Brian Moore model was the MC/1 – a design born from the collaboration between Moore and Cummings (hence the “MC” name). Brian came up with an ergonomic neck-thru design using advanced composite materials, topped with a beautifully figured and sculpted maple top. Later, Kevin Kalagher pushed the brand further into the high-end world, encouraging Patrick to refine the guitar for the most demanding players. The result? Only top-grade figured tops, premium components like Seymour Duncan pickups, Sperzel tuners, and Wilkinson vibratos. Add to that clever touches like the innovative rear output jack and the sculpted headstock.
Now, back to this guitar: stunning quilted maple top with a gorgeous Tiger Eye Burst finish. The sunburst and the color shade are just perfect, but what really steals the show is that crazy quilt maple figuring. Brian Moore definitely had access to some fabulous woods and knew how to turn them into something jaw-dropping. The body is made of composite carbon fiber, with Brian Moore’s signature ergonomic shape. We’re talking about one of the most comfortable instruments out there. And the weight? Just 3,1 kilos… unbelievable!!!
This Brian Moore MC-1 is a fantastic guitar – first because it’s simply beautiful, and second because, despite being from 1995, it’s in near mint condition. Almost no playwear, dings or scratches except a very tiny little dent on the side of the instrument.
This beauty comes with its original hardcase and a cable.
