What a cool axe !!! We had often had Xotic basses, and a few guitars, including Allen Hind Signature and some XSCPRO-2, the “budget” series, but with the high-end XSC-2, the American workshop Xotic offers a wonderful guitar in a resolutely Fender register. They’re lucky in California, there’s everything, including the best Fender type workshops (and including Fender of course) like Anderson Guitarworks, Suhr, and for the past few years Xotic, which frankly, beats the Suhrs and tickles the quality of the Tom Anderson.

The Xotic California Classic XSC-2 is one hell of a guitar, built with the finest selected acoustic tonewoods. The XS-2 is a series exclusive to Xotic dealers, and represents the top of the range, with all the possible options. This guitar has the classic Strat shape but with the very light alder body. Our instrument is finished in a lush Surf Green colour with a successful Relic Light Aging. Coated in nitrocellulose lacquer, the body delivers beautiful organic tones and resonance. The neck of this XS-2 series is something really special, Flame Roasted Maple, with for our model, the 5A Figured option. This neck is flamed as we have rarely seen flames and veins on a maple. Our instrument comes with one of the most figured necks ever, and no picture will do it justice… With a modern C-shaped neck profile, 12″ radius and Medium Jumbo Jescar 51108 frets, it is comfortable and familiar.

Vintage-style Gotoh locking tuners and a vintage-style Gotoh bridge provide incredible stability and intonation. A duo of Xotic RV-60 single-coil pickups deliver vintage Strat tone with real punch and super clarity. At the bridge you get the fantastic RV-PAF humbucker, with Alnico magnets, each pickup is hand-wound on-site in Los Angeles. They have a super wide tonal range with a really punchy low end.
