The Petros brothers, based in Holland, Wisconsin, have been building the most fabulous acoustic guitars for a long time, and with this superb unique creation made in 2009, they demonstrate on the one hand all their talents, and on the other hand a quality of wood rarely seen in instruments not costing $ 20,000 … It’s simple, this Quilted Sapele back and sides are absolutely splendid and have unique and deep patterns that only “The Tree” (search the net “The Legend of ‘The Tree,’ a Mythic Source of 500-Year-Old Mahogany”) can claim to outdo it. In short, this guitar is a marvel.
This Petros The Celt 12GC is beautiful but this guitar is above all a marvel of comfort, and we are talking about a 12 strings, and a killer one in terms of tone and of balance. The Grand Concert format and the usual 25.5 ” long scale deliver an excellent balance. You have a lot of volume out of this very ergonomic and perfectly shaped instrument. The top is Adirondack spruce and looks superb, with perfect grain and very nice patterns. The back and sides are therefore in quilt Sapele, and have unique and exceptional veins and waves. The whole thing is super balanced, both in weight and sound, and thanks to the Grand Concert dimensions and light design, this guitar resonates and is also a pure marvel to play. The mids are crisp and precise and the balance of the guitar’s timbre is well represented in every chord, whether played with the finger or the plectrum. The finishes are tasteful and very detailed, the workmanship is impeccable, beautifully done with hand encrusted Celtic themed designs which are absolutely amazing
The solid mahogany neck is C profile, very comfortable, not big or thick, and has a dark ebony fingerboard with stunning Celtic patterns. The head plating is figured sapele, the mechanics also have Celtic patterns and everything looks fabulous. The bridge is in ebony and the pegs are in fossilized ivory. The quality of manufacture and details is impressive, rarely has a guitar benefited from so much care and talent.
A piezo pickup is mounted on the guitar, the body and headstock have a superb thin abalone surround and the belle comes with its original Calton Deluxe case, the ones you can ride your Hummer on. In short, a marvel !!
