The Empress Buffer++ is built for musicians who want complete control over their signal path and the freedom to experiment. Whether you’re switching between instruments, routing multiple amps, combining effect loops, or creating unconventional signal chains, the Buffer++ becomes the intelligent hub of your pedalboard.
It builds upon Empress’ legacy of transparent, low-noise buffers, but goes far beyond simple signal preservation. With 12 internal routing modes, the Buffer++ allows you to completely reconfigure your setup: switch from guitar to synth, convert stereo rigs to mono, route multiple instruments or amplifiers, and adapt your signal path instantly without unplugging a single cable.
At its core is a high-quality analog buffer designed to protect your tone from signal loss caused by long cable runs. Long cables and vintage pedals can easily degrade tone and introduce unwanted noise. The Buffer++ addresses this with a fully analog signal path, incorporating Dolby-style filtering, transformer isolation, and differential loop returns. Whether you’re running stereo effects or stacking gain-heavy pedals, your signal remains clean, punchy, and free from hiss.
To help you manage complex setups, the pedal also includes input pads for balancing instrument levels as well as an input meter, allowing precise adjustment of incoming signal levels. A footswitchable boost delivering up to 30 dB of gain is built directly into the pedal, perfect for solos, level compensation, or pushing your amp harder when needed. A dedicated tuner output is also included, with a mute function activated by holding the footswitch, enabling silent tuning on stage.
Beyond protecting your tone, the Buffer++ also allows you to shape it. The variable input loading control lets you simulate the tonal effect of long guitar cables often associated with vintage rigs. By slightly rolling off the high end, you can achieve a warmer, classic character without the noise and clutter of excessive cable length. For advanced rigs, the Buffer++ features a stereo effects loop with noise filtering, as well as AB and AY switching options, allowing you to switch between multiple amplifiers or instruments with ease. This makes it an ideal solution for musicians juggling several instruments, amps, or complex FX chains.
Instead of filling your pedalboard with large switchers, the Buffer++ combines stereo loop switching, AB/AY routing, integrated boost, tuner mute, and a high-performance buffer into one compact utility pedal. With 12 routing modes, up to 30 dB of boost, a noise-filtered stereo effects loop, variable input loading, instrument input pads, tuner output with mute, and an ultra-transparent analog buffer, the Empress Buffer++ transforms complex setups into clean, efficient, and incredibly flexible rigs.
