The sheer charm of this instrument is unbelievable!!! On the one hand, there is only one, and there will never be another; on the other hand, having been presented at the January 2025 NAMM Show, I simply had to bring this guitar back in my luggage. What a beauty—and above all, what a beast!!! Presented at the NAMM Show 2025, this SULLY Strella 71 is far more than just a guitar: it is a unique piece—yes, I repeat myself—designed as an exclusive one-off concept by John “Sully” Sullivan. Dressed in a stunning Ice Blue Sparkle finish, it reveals, beneath its deep reflections, a wide palette of blue tones that shift with the lighting. Featuring a lightweight mahogany body that offers a perfect balance of resonance, comfort, and sustain, this powerhouse is topped with a figured maple top… Because John Sullivan never does things halfway—he outfits his guitars, even with opaque finishes like this one, with figured maple. Yes, yes, yes…
Its highly figured roasted maple neck, combined with a set-neck carved-top construction, ensures exemplary stability and a resolutely modern playing feel. With a 25.5″ scale length, 22 stainless steel frets perfectly dressed using PLEK technology, and a modern 12″ radius, this Strella 71 is built for speed, precision, and comfort. The slim and ergonomic Speed C neck profile provides an immediate and natural grip, ideal for the most demanding playing styles.
Equipped with a single humbucker—because yes, this guitar is the very first single-humbucker instrument ever built by Sully—hand-wound in the USA, it delivers a powerful, precise, and expressive tone, perfectly complemented by a locking floating Floyd Rose tremolo, guaranteeing rock-solid tuning stability even under the most extreme use. You’ve probably figured it out: this beauty isn’t exactly made for reggae (well… maybe) or French chanson (well… maybe).
Made in the USA, this SULLY Strella 71 embodies the brand’s artisanal excellence and innovative spirit. It is aimed at musicians and collectors seeking a rare, exclusive, and inspiring instrument—a true showcase of John “Sully” Sullivan’s craftsmanship. Supplied with its hard case and certificate of authenticity.
