We were lucky to have these series when they were released in 2013, and then to have the standard series, in Olive Drab finish with Bigsby, but hey, it’s especially these limited edition series with fixed bridge that are killer and that have become collector’s items… Gibson had taste and had shown good sense in offering this ES 335 Chris Cornell Signature version. On the one hand, the beauty is truly splendid and on the other hand, the pickups, Lolar Lollartron Humbucking, based on the Gretsch reference Filter Tron are killers and transform these ES335s. Oh yes, and as the beauty is numbered on 250 copies, that doesn’t spoil anything…
Fantastic ES 335, fitted with a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The modern radius and standard frets profiled by the PLEK machine ensure incredible comfort. We are happy. The beast is equipped with Grover tuners and aged nickel finishes. The ebony finish of the body and neck is satin, and superb. This guitar has been played quite a bit, it was owned by an excellent musician and well-known artistic producer, Marek Pompetzki, who used it on quite a few artistic productions. A certificate signed by Marek is included with this guitar. Our instrument is in excellent condition but still has some scares, scattered scratches and playwear here and there. No dents, no major damage, no break obviously, and the frets are in excellent condition. The plastic control buttons have all crystallized and are all cracked, but hold on the pots without any problem.
In short, a limited edition of 250 hand-numbered ES 335 that looks phenomenal and offers modern, but not overly so, tones. Gretsch and rock ‘n’ roll fans will be delighted. It comes with its case, a certificate signed by its former owner, Marek Pompetzki, and the numbered Gibson Certificate of Authenticity.
