This is the bass that started it all for us with Elrick. This instrument which was ordered in 2011 for my best friend is a gem which has taken on an absolutely splendid color with age, only George Clooney or Brad Pitt know how to do that. Here is the first Elrick received by Leadmusic in 2011, probably the first on Swiss soil too. Superb instrument and magnificent Burl Maple top, absolutely mind-blowing… We say to ourselves that there is a guy up there who has worked hard (at least on the woods, the rest is not great…) Well, apart from that there is obviously all the craftmanship and skills and work and here the credit goes of course to Rob Elrick, who rewards us with this instrument with an incredible bass, both in design and comfort and certainly in beauty.
This bass from the Gold series with its e-volution design has a lightweight ash body, with perfect shape and cutout. To talk about the ash body, when we say light, we’re not lying, it’s truly amazingly light, so this 5 string weighs less than 4 kilos. But this superb instrument is above all equipped with a spectacular top, but we repeat. Come on, let’s repeat… The top is simply impressive, and the patterns, the flames, the waves, in short, all of that, are absolutely unique. The neck and fingerboard are made of Wenge and the medium profile frets offer astonishing playing comfort. In short, that’s obviously a lot of dithyrambic qualifiers and superlatives, but we assure you that it’s justified… The side dots on the sleeve are luminescent and therefore… glow in the night.
The Gold series offers incredible instruments recognizable by their Gold logo and their screw-down neck of course. But the Heel-Less principle designed by Elrick offers absolutely unique access to the treble. The heel access is cut so that the asymmetrically screwed neck is accessible up to the 24th fret. You play on the neck, all the way, without hitting the neck support heel… Ingenious and so comfortable. And since the beast is rigged with Aero J Coils pickups and Bartolini OBP-3 EQ 3-band electronics, it rocks everything.
This superb bass is in excellent condition, with rare marks and dents, small scattered scratches but ultimately, nothing serious or visible. The patina and especially the color of the top, having had it and seen it for years in the hands of the excellent bassist who played it for almost 14 years, give incredible charm to this instrument. Comes with original Elrick hardcase.
