What a beautiful guitar we have here, featuring a Natural finish and an absolutely stunning 10 Top. Several PRS eras and production periods are commonly distinguished, each marked by specific features and characteristics. Original pre-1990 PRS guitars are rare and highly sought after, and naturally, the closer you get to 1985 (not even mentioning the pre-production models before 1985), the higher the price.
However, between 1990 and the mid-1990s, only the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and the Sweet Switch were replaced in 1990. Then, in 1996, PRS moved to Stevensville, and this factory change marks the beginning of the second PRS era. So here we have a 1995 gem from the first period, featuring everything you’d want: a 10 Top, bird inlays, a stunning Natural finish, and of course, excellent overall condition.
This guitar is lightweight and features an incredibly comfortable neck. A unique profile typical of that era. Equipped with the standard Bass & Treble pickups from that time, this Custom 24 includes the electronics used on production models since 1990. In terms of tone and playability, it’s paradise. The instrument is light, resonant, and offers the attack and definition expected from a Custom 24. It easily covers all musical styles, from Metal to Rock, including more bluesy or jazzy tones… In short, it does everything a Custom 24 usually does. The optional 10 Top maple top is absolutely stunning, with beautiful grain patterns and very pronounced figuring. The Natural finish has developed a slightly amber tint over time, revealing the flame maple beautifully.
This guitar dates from 1990 but has been cherished by its previous owners. The most recent owner is a professional musician who, despite many hours of playing, took excellent care of it. The instrument is in excellent condition, with only a few light surface marks on the back from a belt (only in the finish and barely visible) and a small nick in the headstock finish. In short, no dents, no cracks, no structural damage. It’s 31 years old but looks fantastic.
The frets are in excellent condition with no noticeable wear. The instrument is also entirely original and comes with its original case.
