Here is a 1979 Marauder in a Natural Gloss finish, a refinished piece — this guitar originally left the factory in black… This Gibson features a truly unique aesthetic, equipped with a high-output humbucker in the neck position and a very bright single-coil at the bridge. What a look!
All the electronics are 100% original and untouched: on the Marauder, the entire pickguard + electronics assembly comes off as a single unit when you remove the screws. This means that whoever stripped the original black finish to apply this natural high-gloss varnish didn’t have to disturb a single solder joint.
Played, yet well cared for, this guitar shows only a few small dings, tiny marks and light surface wear. Nothing that affects its functionality or performance — as you’d expect — and this beauty delivers excellent projection, a gorgeous tone, and is a genuine pleasure to play. The frets show very light flattening, perfectly consistent with its age, but they appear to have been neatly leveled with no divots or irregularities. They still have plenty of life left: no refret needed, nothing to worry about.
An authentic Marauder, original in electronics and parts, with a cleanly redone Natural Gloss finish… and above all, a guitar that sounds great and offers a playing comfort many new instruments can only dream of.
