Ah, Burny – what a cool yet somewhat obscure brand. Produced by Fernandes, a well-known Japanese company, Burny made a name for itself in 1973 by launching its very first true Gibson copy: the Firebird. A funny choice, you might say, but then again Gibson had only produced those Firebirds for a few short years, nearly a decade earlier.
And here it is: a stunning 1973 Burny Firebird FB120 – first year, first production run. A rare and highly sought-after model among fans of high-end vintage Japanese reissues. This guitar perfectly reflects the craftsmanship of early-70’s Japan: flawless finish, outstanding playability, and a faithful respect for the original Gibson design.
In excellent overall condition, this FB120 has survived the decades with remarkable care. Its reverse-body silhouette, beautifully preserved original finish, and nickel hardware give it an irresistible, classy look. The weight is very comfortable, making it a joy to handle and super responsive.
Sound-wise, this Burny delivers the goods: the mini-humbuckers pump out a punchy and precise tone, full of the clarity and dynamic response we all love in a Firebird, while keeping a warm midrange. It’s an instrument equally at ease with fat rock riffs or more subtle passages. The frets are clean but quite low, with no grooves or wear.
All in all, a 1973 Burny Firebird FB120 in exceptional condition – both a collector’s piece and an excellent player. A charismatic, rare instrument that will seduce collectors and musicians alike, looking for a vintage Firebird with an unmistakable vibe. Comes with a case.
