Information:

Prior to 2009, Gibson and Robby Krieger began a close collaboration to release a very limited number of hand-crafted replicas of the Robby Krieger 1967 SG Standard that the famous Doors guitarist had been playing since 1967, when his first SG, a Special , was stolen. Production was slowed and it was not until 2009 that the first 50 guitars were produced, hand-aged by Gibson, which were played, approved and signed by Robby himself. It is one of these instruments, number 13, Aged & Signed, that we are offering for sale.

This guitar is crazy, quite light, very resonant and obviously with excellent mids because it’s an SG. The Gibson Custom Robby Krieger 67 SG Standard is a very special recreation of the legendary 1967 SG played by the Doors guitarist. This limited edition Robby Krieger Aged & Signed SG LTD features the distinctive SG design with an aged finish, slim taper 1960 neck profile, which ultimately feels thicker and rounder than any original SG neck I’ve had in the past. Classic ’57 humbucking pickups, trapezoidal inlays and a Maestro trem tailpiece. Signed by Robby, this Gibson Krieger Aged & Signed SG LTD is a collector’s dream SG, but not only that, because the beauty is truly an excellent guitar.

Robby Krieger, a legendary guitarist and songwriter who formed the Doors and wrote some of the group’s best-known songs, including “Light My Fire”, “Love Me Two Times”, “Touch Me” and “Love Her Madly “. Robby’s fingerstyle approach to electric guitar and songwriting contributed to the band’s success. Krieger’s unique sound is largely attributed to his 1967 Gibson SG Standard, which appears on almost every song recorded by the Doors beginning in 1968.

Forget the current Murphy Aged versions from the Gibson Custom Shop and the excessive marketing of the brand, which for several years has been delivering models in spades. There, for these Aged and Signed series, each of the Robby Krieger 67 SG Standards has been recreated based on a hands-on examination, digital scanning, photographs, measurements and a study of Robby’s SG for ensuring that each guitar is as close to the original as possible, and most importantly Robby Krieger followed the process and played and signed the 50 instruments selected for the Aged & Signed run. 2009 also marks the year of production of the best Les Paul Aged & Signed, the Pearly Gate by Billy Gibbons, and it is clear that Gibson, at that time, was really at the top in the manufacture of these Aged guitars, and the quality of this guitar makes you feel this. The solid mahogany body as well as the neck, with a vintage ’61 profile with an elongated neck tenon and a construction in animal glue, the famous hide-glue revered by high-end luthiers, have a multi-layer varnish vintage and careful aging by hand.

The Classic 57 Alnico II pickups blend perfectly with the craftmanship and this guitar is truly above all the SGs we’ve had, including several 61s, 62s, 63s, a 65 and several 67s, all original. .. The old ones are beautiful, but in SG world, the old ones are often dead and the necks are often thin or narrow, and sometimes both, damn…

Our example is number 13 in a series of 50 guitars aged by the Gibson Custom Shop and signed by Robby Krieger and is in the same condition as when it left the Gibson factory, complete with its original case, its documents and its certificate of authenticity. The COA certificate is signed by Robby Krieger. The guitar, perfect for a Doors fan, is above all a bomb of sound and comfort with its wide and fairly round neck, and will successfully complement any Gibson collection.

Delivered with its original hardcase, COA certificate and original documents.
