The ES-175 needs no introduction, but a little history on this stunning instrument is always worth it. First launched in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 is a compact 16’’ archtop that Gibson quietly phased out in 2015—keeping only a few variations alive—before pulling the plug completely in 2019. Originally built with a laminated maple body, there was a short production run in the 80s with mahogany bodies. And this beauty is one of those rare examples.
This one has been kept in fantastic condition. Just a few tiny marks here and there on the body—but no dings, no scratches. The neck is flawless, the frets are in excellent shape, and the sunburst high-gloss finish gives it an absolutely killer look. A small touch-up was done inside the cutaway (air had gotten under the finish), but good luck spotting it—the work was done masterfully by JVDM Lutherie. Low action, super-fast neck—this is a dream of an instrument.
Comes with its original case.
