These MJT guitars are truly fantastic, especially the earlier versions produced before the current generation, with their distinctive Fender-style headstock and, of course, the Fender logo proudly displayed on the guitar. But that’s not all—these MJTs are genuinely excellent instruments. The previous one we had, just like this one, was acquired by John Woolloff.
John refined the finish of this beautiful Telecaster by enhancing the relic work, both on the guitar itself and on its G&G case, and fitted it with a Bigsby B5 Telecaster vibrato. The result is a guitar with a truly unique look and an incredible amount of mojo—even though I’ve promised myself not to use that all-purpose word…
This MJT dates from the early 2000s, or perhaps the early 2010s. It features an ash body and a maple neck, originally carved in a large C profile. John reshaped the neck into a subtle V profile, making it exceptionally fast and comfortable to play. He also improved MJT’s relic finish, giving the guitar an amazingly authentic appearance with highly convincing wear marks and dings.
Beyond its stunning looks, this Telecaster is an outstanding instrument. Thanks to its lightweight ash body (despite now carrying a Bigsby) and its Lindy Fralin pickups, it has very little to envy from many Custom Shop guitars. Well, except perhaps the price—because apparently, the more expensive it is, the better it must be… Not in this case.
The guitar comes complete with its matching relic-finished G&G case, as well as the original bridge plate and original neck plate.
