Wow, what a beauty this is!! These Kauffmann guitars are fantastic, and for this model we chose a NOS finish with a very light lacquer that lets the grain of the Empress wood body show through — the famous and ultra-light Paulownia. This Kauffmann ’56 T therefore features a paulownia body (we know, we’re repeating ourselves, but it’s just that good), a maple neck and fingerboard with a 9.5″ radius, slightly overwound Kauffmann pickups, and a Gotoh In Tune bridge for improved tuning stability and intonation. Tons of tone and sustain.

Kauffmann guitars are made in the Netherlands and deliver true custom shop quality at an affordable price. The Kauffmann SOW pickups are small hand-wound marvels, and the instrument’s finish as well as the neck profile are absolutely spectacular. In 2025, Fender legally requested that Kauffmann stop using their original headstocks, as they were considered too similar to Fender’s design. This guitar therefore features the original, now-controversial headstock design.
