Here is a very nice Reissue of the ’57 Stratocaster. The Reissue series have had several variations, from their initial design and production in Fullerton under the name Vintage Reissue, commonly called American Vintage Reissue, to their continuation in Corona from 1985, these instruments Reissue were then called American Vintage from 2013. But the two initial productions are the most interesting and offered instruments that competed with Tokai’s Japanese productions by example. Over time, musicians and collectors realized that these AVRIs were formidable guitars that had nothing to envy of current Custom Shops. As proof, this guitar belonged to John Woolloff, and as a great Strat fan, having had several AVRIs and other Reissues as well as an original Strat from 57, John sold all his other Strats and kept this 1989 Reissue 57 until at the end of 2024. This guitar has crazy Mojo!!
The American Vintage Reissue 57 Stratocaster takes you back to the heart of 1957, the date when this model had just been released and where arguably the most awarded and acclaimed neck ever attached to the instrument appeared: a one-piece neck thick maple, with a slight “V” shape, with rounded and comfortable edges. A white pickguard (one ply) with eight holes, a lightweight alder body with pronounced contours, as well as the vintage pickups, the bridge saddles, the spacing of the tuners, everything is in the tradition of the time. The neck on this guitar isn’t as thick and pronounced as many originals we have and have had, but the comfort is crazy. the frets are in good condition, slightly marked, the electronics are perfect and the beautiful one obviously shows traces of play, knocks and small chips. A crazy look, that the Custom Shop employees only dream of being able to reproduce…
