DS Custom XPC Prescription Experience Fuzz Clone

The XPC is the DS Custom version of a clone of one of the best fuzz pedals available, the Prescription Electronics Experience Fuzz. The goal was to create a faithful reproduction, but also to make a few modifications to further improve the fuzz. That’s why DS Custom placed the potentiometers on the top of the unit rather than on the side. We also added LEDs to the footswitches to indicate which switches are active.

You’ll also notice the Stock/Mod switch, which only affects the pedal’s Swell circuit. On the original unit, the Swell sounded a little off on the lower frets. So DS Custom added a small modification that improves the sound on the lower frets without affecting anything else.

And as a result, the XPC is one of the most fabulous fuzz pedals on the market, faithfully reproducing the gain of the Prescription Electronics references.

Anasounds Utopia Deluxe Analog Delay

What a cool Analog Delay !!! Anasounds Utopia Deluxe is a tape echo delay pedal and based on one of the best-selling pedals from the early days of Anasounds. The original Utopia is the pedal that turned Anasounds into the brand they currently are. They have redesigned the original Utopia circuit from the ground up, with a brand new voicing for an even more musical delay that’s more fun to play and fully exploits the potential of the famous PT2399 chip.

It took several years to get there, but here it is finally, the Anasounds Utopia Deluxe, and we think it was worth the wait. Of course there’s a tap tempo footswitch that can also trigger self-oscillating infinite repeats. The pedal has three subdivisions to choose from, including dotted eighth. The Deluxe also features a Tone setting for brighter or darker repeats, a built-in preamp that makes your harmonics sparkle like a vintage Echoplex can. A knob adjusts both the volume and gain of the preamp, and a switch puts it in “always on”, “always off” or “on when the delay is active” mode.

Finally, the central “Bliss” knob takes care of modulation. It has three zones for three modulation types (tape echo, chorus and vibrato), and the effect zone allows you to automatically set up depth and speed.

La Grotte is the new analog spring reverb by Anasounds for Third Man Hardware, designed in close collaboration with Jack White. It is a mechanical reverb with an integrated three-spring tank, but there is also a very warm preamp with a strong character, and an ultra-effective two-band EQ (which only affects the reverb itself). Separate volume controls for direct sound and reverb sound give you access to the ideal mix you’ve always been looking for. Whatever your sound aesthetic may be, vintage or modern, blues or pop, garage or soul, you’ll get that tone with this reverb.

Zuta XPRESSOR Compressor Sustainer

Often overlooked the compressor & sustain pedal FX, this pedal might be the missing punch in the FX chain. With the ability to balance and stabilize the dynamic range of the guitar, it makes the loud parts quieter and the quiet parts louder. This takes out the harsh attacks at the beginning and boosts the notes at the fading end, sustaining them for better expression hence the name. Usually, compressor pedals smash the signal and introduces a lot of hum and noise due to the FX fundamental function, but we managed to hand pick the best chip available, and would not settle for nothing than the best to keep the noise floor down and still retain the clarity, string separation and spatial headroom, which makes this pedal sound nothing like ordinary compressors, no need for a parallel mix on this one.

Zuta FRED Filter-Resonance-Envelope-Distortion

Meet FRED = Filter + Resonance + Envelope + Distortion. FRED is amplifying, twisting and swirling frequencies in sometimes chaotic ways and will sometimes lead your tone into many unpredictable directions. FRED is very sensitive to what you feed it with. It was originally designed for Electric Bass Guitar but turned out to be fun to play with any signal coming into it. Chasing the perfect tone is a never-ending task and when the technical side is satisfied, the aesthetics are in line. This pedal is a creative Envelope Filter and with its wacky sound color it will spice up your guitar tone by adding a certain dose of vocal characteristics. For the grit lovers an overdrive signal path is included and accessed by pressing the MOD button, which in combination with the Envelope Filter generates pronounced distortion, especially in the bass frequency range.

Out of all modulation effects, the chorus is the one with mystical charm and warm tone, especially in the analog domain. The layered effect thickens your sound, creating a doubling FX. The internal high voltage design increases the headroom in this classic Bucket Brigade designed Chorus creating a swirling sound, that reminds you of a wind chime moving in circles, made from crystal-like icicles seasoning your tone with its reflections of overtones. Too many controls make it difficult to set up, so we made it easy with the DEPTH and RATE controls retaining the simplicity of this plug-and-play pedal, and the DELAY rotary switch adds 4 different chorus effects with increased complexity, still comfortable manageable with a signal 4 position rotary knob to dial in your favorite setting.

A true bandit that hijacks the dull sound of a guitar and completely transforms it into a rich tone. The BANDIT is a top signal booster and seriously motivates the amp to produce a unique overdrive that has tube amp qualities. It works like a limited parametric EQ with the possibility to adjust the Q-Value and a narrow sweep of a specifically chosen frequency band hence the name “BANDIT”, and with the LEVEL control you chose the amount of FX will be in the mix between wet and dry signal. Pushing the level creates a E-bow kind of sound, very tubular but not hollow, rather cutting through a dense mix like a Razor Blade.

Overdrive is one of the most commonly used effects in the guitar world. It’s a never-ending quest to find the right one. That’s why we doubled it. The combination of vintage and modern overdrive provides the opportunity to shape the tone range from stoner rock to djent. Anything in between can be fine-tuned with the individual tone and drive controls (and modern-only shape control).
